Shane Carmody is Director, Collections and Access, at the State Library of Victoria. With the guidance of Des Cowley, Rare Printed Collections Manager, he has explored some of the riches of the Rare Book collections.
Kerry Heckenberg is an Honorary Research Advisor in the School of English, Media Studies and Art History at the University of Queensland. With degrees in science and art history, she is interested in both disciplines and drew on this background for her doctoral dissertation, entitled ‘The Art and Science of Exploration’ (2002). She has also researched and written catalogue entries for the Antiquities Museum at the University of Queensland.
Hilary Maddocks, who has a doctorate in Art History, is a Fellow of the School of Art History, Cinema, Classics and Archaeology at the University of Melbourne. In 2006 she was the recipient of a six-month Creative Fellowship at the State Library of Victoria.
Juliet O'Conor, Children's Research Librarian for the State Library of Victoria, has interests in historical and contemporary Australian and overseas children's literature, and in 2005 began a doctorate at Deakin University in traditional Australian Indigenous stories for children
Kate Riley is completing a doctorate in seventeenth-century British history at the University of Western Australia. She writes and teaches across the fields of literature, visual culture and early modern history.
The State Library Of Victoria Foundation
was established in 1994 to raise funds to support the State Library of Victoria. It encourages and promotes private philanthropy and corporate sponsorship for state Library projects, including preservation of Victoria's cultural heritage, conservation of valuable collections, acquisitions of items of historical significance, and delivery of educational programs and research services to the community.
