Shane Carmody, who is Director of Collections and Access at the State Library of Victoria, co-edited the Redmond Barry Number of The La Trobe Journal.
Anne Colman is an historian and a passionate supporter of libraries.
Virginia Dahlenburg is the Senior Conservator, Paintings, at the State Library of Victoria. She has recently undertaken a study project, sponsored by a Gordon Darling Global Travel Grant, on William Strutt's Black Thursday February 6th 1851.
Kathleen Fennessy has worked as a teacher, museologist and historian, and is currently a research fellow in the Faculty of Education, Monash University, where she is researching new learning spaces. She is also working on a forthcoming book, A People Learning: Colonial Victorians and their public museums, 1860–1880, which is based on her PhD thesis.
Caroline Jordan is the author of Picturesque Pursuits: Colonial Women Artists & the Amateur Tradition, recently published by Melbourne University Publishing.
Anne Neale is an historian of art, gardens and architecture, and Coordinator of History and Theory in the School of Architecture at the University of Tasmania.
Madeleine Say is Picture Librarian at the State Library of Victoria.
Olga Tsara is a librarian in the La Trobe Picture Collection at the State Library of Victoria. Her essay is based upon work done while she was an inaugural staff fellow at the Library in 2003.

The State Library of Victoria Foundation
was established in 1994 to raise funds to support the State Library of Victoria. It encourages and promotes private philanthropy and corporate sponsorship for State Library projects, including preservation of Victoria's cultural heritage, conservation of valuable collections, acquisitions of items of historical significance, and delivery of educational programs and research services to the community.
