Michael Aitken has been a passionate collector of Australiana for many years, with a focus on ephemera, including early tourist guides.
Richard Aitken, the curator of the Gardenesque Exhibition in the Keith Murdoch Gallery of the State Library, was awarded a State Library of Victoria Fellowship in 2004. The author of Gardenesque: A Celebration of Australian Gardening (2004) and co-editor of The Oxford Companion to Australian Gardens (2002), he is currently preparing a more detailed account of Bogue Luffmann's career for publication in a future number of The La Trobe Journal.
Frances Awcock retired as Chief Executive Officer and State Librarian at the State Library of Victoria at the end of 2002, after holding the post for five years, during which time a major redevelopment of the Library was undertaken. She was awarded an AM in the Queen's Birthday Honours List this year in recognition of her contribution to libraries and the community.
Gerry Brody has been a librarian at the State Library of Victoria since 1975. The history of horse-racing is one of his special interests.
Roger Dargie, who works at the Migration Review Tribunal, describes himself as ‘semi-retired’, after a varied life, including 10 years as a Patrol Officer in New Guinea, followed by the experience of operating a small business and working in Government publishing.
Christopher R. Elmore is a writer, researcher and teacher with an interest in local and family history, editing and literary studies. He has recently edited for publication Lionel Elmore's manuscript relating to tree species growing on the basalt plains of western Victoria.
Ken Fraser, whose service to the State Library has continued into retirement, was for more than 20 years in charge of the Anderson Chess Collection.
Jeff Prentice, after many years in book publishing, is now a workplace assessor at the Chisholm Institute. Among his many interests is the May Gibbs Children's Literature Trust, of which he is Deputy Chairman.
Kim Torney is a Fellow of the History Department at the University of Melbourne, where she recently completed a doctoral thesis on the topic of children lost in the Australian bush.
